Why we love it

The Dedica Maestro Plus is the Dedica that does the milk for you. Its automatic steam wand textures milk to one of three temperatures and three foam levels, so the latte comes out right without learning to steam, and three brew temperatures let you match the water to the roast. A thermoblock has it ready in seconds (De'Longhi doesn't give a figure), the 54oz tank lifts off to fill, and the parts go in the dishwasher. There's no grinder, and the portafilter is 51mm rather than the 54mm or 58mm most accessories are made for, so it wants an espresso grinder beside it and baskets made for it.

Pros

  • Automatic steam wand: three milk temperatures and three foam levels
  • Three brew temperatures, set at a button
  • Thermoblock heating, ready in seconds
  • 54oz removable tank and dishwasher-safe parts
  • Low-pressure pre-infusion before the full shot

Cons

  • No built-in grinder: budget for an espresso grinder
  • 51mm portafilter, so fewer third-party baskets and tampers fit
  • De'Longhi doesn't state a heat-up time
  • A newer model, with less owner history behind it
