Why we love it
The handheld NanoFoamer makes real microfoam but you have to run it yourself, and it doesn't heat — you're warming milk separately and racing it. The Pro Gen-2 is a countertop unit that does both: it heats to about 158°F and textures at the same time, in a minute or two, while you pull the shot. The impeller height adjuster is the part that justifies the price — raising or lowering it changes how much air goes in, which is the difference between latte milk and cappuccino milk, and it's the control a handheld wand simply doesn't have. It's IPX-5 splash-resistant and the connector is sealed, so cleaning is rinsing rather than disassembly. If you drink one milk drink a day the handheld is still the right buy at $50; if the household drinks several, this stops being a gadget and starts being the thing that makes them.
Pros
- Heats and textures in one pass — no separate milk warming
- Impeller height adjuster tunes latte vs cappuccino texture
- Hands-free, so it runs while you pull the shot
- Sealed connector and IPX-5 — rinse rather than disassemble
- Genuine microfoam, not the dry froth cheap wands produce
Cons
- $110 more than the handheld for convenience and heat
- Counter space for a single-purpose appliance
- Overkill for one milk drink a day
